Did you know?

MGM’s 1939 film, the Wizard of Oz, was realized in Technicolor. It was not the first Hollywood film to use the 3-strip color process, but it was one of the first to prove that color could add fantasy and draw audiences to theatres, despite its release during the Great Depression. Yesterday, August 12th, marks the 80th anniversary of the release of the Wizard of Oz film, which was first premiered in Oconomowoc, WI (just a few miles west of Milwaukee, home of Marcus Hotels & Resorts’ corporate office). A signed copy of the scene from the movie, shown above, hangs in our SafeHouse restaurant & bar in Milwaukee.
