NOT-SO-LITTLE WOMEN WITH BIG IMPACT
Among the traditional holiday celebrations, at Marcus Hotels & Resorts we are also celebrating Saint Kate, the patron saint of artists and the name of our newest hotel, in Milwaukee. Saint Kate – The Arts Hotel has been awarded not ONE, but TWO, Silver Adrian Awards from HSMAI – one for the hotel’s website and the other for the Saint Kate art app (available for Apple and Android devices). Both were created in-house by Marcus Hotel’s marketing and technology teams. And that’s not all! Our own Linda Gulrajani, VP Revenue Strategy & Distribution, was also chosen by HSMAI as one of the “Top 25 Extraordinary Minds in Hospitality Sales, Marketing and Revenue Optimization”. That’s THREE HSMAI Awards to wrap up 2019, and the decade. Just a few of the wonderful gifts we are celebrating this holiday season.

MAKE IT SHORT & SPICY
Add a little cheer[s] to your holiday with our custom cocktail, created by The Pfister Hotel (home of Blu)’s Beverage Manager and Sommelier, Erik Mulberry, which we’ve named the Milwaukee Mule-tide. It is a wintery twist on a classic Moscow Mule, incorporating flavors of cranberry, ginger, and rosemary. Use vodka for a classic, refreshing element; substitute with blanco tequila or your favorite gin for a more botanical flavor profile. Here’s how to bring this classic twist home for your holiday:
– 1 1/2 oz. vodka
– 1/2 oz. simple syrup
– 1/2 oz. lime juice
– 1/2 oz. cranberry juice
– 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary leaves (torched, for enhanced aroma)
– 4-5 nickel sized slices of ginger
Combine ginger, rosemary and vodka in a shaker tin and muddle well. Add the rest of the ingredients and ice. Shake vigorously and empty into a rocks glass. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary and some fresh cranberries. Enjoy the Mule-tidings!

This year marks the 150th anniversary of the release of Louisa May Alcott’s classic novel, Little Women, about the four spirited March sisters, which is as relevant in theme and tone today as it was when it was first published. In addition to being raised by transcendentalist parents, educator Amos Bronson Alcott and social worker Abigail May, family friends of Louisa May Alcott included Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Henry David Thoreau, and the feminist and journalist Margaret Fuller. Mark Ambrose said, “Show me your friends and I’ll show you your future”, and Jim Rohn wrote, “You become like the five people you spend the most time with. Choose carefully.” Louisa May Alcott certainly chose well. The remake of the movie Little Women is in theatres Christmas Day.
